Have you ever seen a white crow?
They look almost otherworldly to me.
Back when my sister lived in her old place, there was one that used to fly around the neighborhood. I expected the other crows to avoid it, maybe even bully it—after all, being different usually makes you a target to predators.
But to my surprise, they protected the white one, even crying out in alarm when someone got too close… someone like me. The black crows were always surrounding their vulnerable pale friend, keeping watch. It was endearing to see.
Here are a few poor attempted shots I took with my phone, most of them are from videos (my proof):

It made me think.
You’d assume that standing out means being shunned, that being different makes you an outsider. But in the world of crows, maybe you get treated like a king.
Hence, I drew this drawing below of a white crow wearing a crown last year (exactly around this time). I don’t think I ever shared the full story behind it, but now you know!
Recently, I revisited this piece to test out a new feature on my e-ink device.
It’s about time they implemented a straight-line function where I can finally create my own comic panels!
With no script, I started sketching some random scenes, letting each panel guide the story. Later, I went back and filled in the blanks and pieced together a story.
Brief Character Info:
Nicknamed “Prince Doormat” (since everyone walks all over him), due to his weakness in court, he holds no real power despite being the heir. Constantly mocked, he has grown to despise his own people.
Blame it on his childhood friend— who filled his head with wild ideas— but now he dreams of a life untamed, unpolished, and unbothered.
So, what does he do? Turns himself into a crow! A creature known for its mischief, carefreeness, and ungovernable nature, crows answer to no one.
Daughter of a nomadic tribe leader, she comes from a long line of expert hunters and plant masters, so naturally, her people are the royal household’s prized gamekeepers.
With a bright personality and a valiant streak, she fiercely cares for her people and family, quite the opposite of the prince. Many even whispers that she has the makings of the next tribe leader (or perhaps, future queen?).
Oh, and the prince? Sure, they grew up together when they were kids… but if you ask him, she definitely treats her horse better than she treats him.
One is flying from his responsibilities. The other is determined to chase him down and drag him back. With their kingdom on the brink of ruin, can this unlikely duo (or trio, if you count the horse) pull it together before everything falls apart? Or will their biggest battle be with each other?
Hm, I don’t know, ask the crows. They’ll probably tell you to toss your lucky bread!
